As Rilke said, life’s purpose is to be defeated by greater things. And the most important things in life cannot be said. We must fight the dogmatic belief in the obvious if we are to discover what it means to be alive and what is the meaning of death…”

This knowledge makes us who we are and how we move on. Depending on how each of us takes home this agony, we behave differently, we think the way we do, we choose our philosophy. Thanatos is what makes this life important, or, for others, what makes it not important at all. In any case, death is the compass that guides us from the shadows every day. Acknowledging that is the only thing we can do.
Poetry offers a window to view that shadow and touch the bottom of the ocean that terrifies us. Through raw feelings expressed with words that can only be spoken without words, poetry is the best way to speak about what we know and help us let go.
Death Poetry from Harmonia Philosophica serves this purpose. In the context of the irrational as founded from the core philosophical program of Harmonia Philosophica, the poems in the pages that follow attempt to achieve what this program tried from the beginning to do: Show a different path than the one we are already into.
Many of them were part of Harmonia Philosophica articles, while others are standalone poems. They all serve the same purpose though. To express the unexpressed. To show what lies deep inside, to start a dialogue with our inner cries.
